Ms. Kendra - VPK Teacher, owner
A born and bred Midwesterner, Kendra has a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Columbia College Chicago where she studied the Reggio Emilia Approach. As part of her senior project she attended learning conferences in Reggio Emilia, Italy and had the pleasure of touring local preschools and observing first hand how engaging the Reggio Emilia Approach really is.
She got her start in early childhood education as a part-time teaching assistant after school in high school in 2001. Since then she has worked in preschools, public and private schools, taught kindergarten through third grade, tutored students, been a director of preschools and is now so excited to be one of the owners of Tangerine Schoolhouse.
Kendra moved to the Orlando area in 2009 with her husband and has fallen in love with Florida! She has two children who attend private school at Tangerine Schoolhouse. In her free time she loves visiting local theme parks, nature parks, and visiting friends.
Her absolute favorite part about working with young children is seeing the imaginative things they come up with – from stories to art to their interpretation of events. You never know what insightful or funny things you’ll encounter in a day.
Ms. Christine - Younger Class Teacher, owner
Every day after high school, Christine would go to work at her neighbor’s in-home daycare. It was there she first found her love of teaching. Since then, she has gone on to work in schools in New York, Pennsylvania, and now Florida, with extensive experience working with infants and toddlers. She started out as an assistant teacher and worked her way up to owning her own school. She has earned and maintained her CDA as well as her Florida Director Credential.
Christine was born and raised in Long Island, New York and comes from a large, loving Italian family. Christine and her husband moved to Orlando in 2015 and absolutely love everything Florida has to offer! They love going to theme parks and the beach. In 2020 they became first-time parents!
Christine believes that the Reggio Emilia Approach is one of the most beneficial methods of learning for young children. Her favorite things about teaching are seeing the children implement what they’ve been taught, watching them use their creativity, and seeing them form lasting bonds and relationships with their peers.
Ms. Chelsea - Younger Class Teacher
Chelsea started out as a parent at our school! When she heard one of our classrooms was growing and would need another teacher, she was excited to join our team. She comes to us from Alaska where she was born and raised. She moved here with her 3 children in 2018 and she has loved it ever since! Chelsea worked as a toddler teacher in Alaska and was excited to be working with young children again at Tangerine Schoolhouse.
She loves running, doing home improvement projects, and doing fun activities and events with her children. Her favorite part about teaching is seeing how much the children learn and grow over time.
Mr. Dustin - VPK Assistant Teacher
Dustin was born and raised here in Florida. He went to a nearby high school and loves this part of Florida. An interesting fact about Dustin is that he played basketball professionally for several seasons! His love of children led him to us at Tangerine Schoolhouse. He has loved his time learning about young children at Tangerine Schoolhouse. You can sometimes find him out on the playground teaching children how to dribble and shoot basketballs!
When he’s not here you’ll find him on his boat fishing, at the lake jet skiing, or being out in nature.
